Why:
One of my favorite things to do is to plan what I’m going to wear when I travel. I’m not sure exactly why, but I just love that process. Perhaps it’s because it combines two of my passions: fashion + travel. Perhaps it’s because I love learning about new designers in different parts of the world. Perhaps it’s because I just love dreaming about ideas for the perfect outfit for a given place and occasion.
When I decided to make a quick trip to Paris recently to visit my friend Kelly, I was already toying with the idea of this blog. Being the awesome person and creative type that she is, Kelly offered to snap a few photos while I was there. And the gears went into motion…
Parisian chic. What does that mean to me? Two defining characteristics kept coming to mind.
1. Black and white: Parisian women have a way of saying so much with simple black and white. No need for loud color or pattern to communicate their sartorial message. Just simple black and white.
2. Femininity: Parisian ladies always seem to emanate refinement and sophistication in a ladylike way.
With these two concepts in mind, this look was born. For accessories, I threw in some accessories from French fashion icons such as Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and Christian Louboutin. And for the finishing touch, I added this beautiful Chanel bracelet that I picked up in Paris at the home of Chanel. The best kind of souvenir, don’t you think?
What do you think of when you hear the words “Parisian chic”? If you could plan your perfectly Parisian outfit, what would it look like?

Hi Carrie,
I popped back to this post as I am looking for a necklace to go with that fabulous black dress from Banana Republic you helped me find a couple of years ago (similar in style to the dress you were wearing here).
Where did your necklace from? Would you have any reasonable costume jewellry suggestions? Looking around Bauble Bar….
Thanks!
Sheri
Let me see what I can find…
