Pray for Houston + How You Can Help

Where do we even begin? Our hearts are breaking for what is going on in Houston right now. It’s truly unfathomable and hard to put it into words.

By now you all know what has transpired over the last 48 hours here in Houston. Absolute and utter devastation doesn’t even begin to describe it. 

We want to give you updates on our end and then ask for your help. We know Houston will be able to rebuild, but it’s going to take a while and everyone’s efforts. 

Team Update

Carrie is still out of town, as she was unable to get back in time, and now, of course, can’t return until the weather passes. As of now, her home is ok and dry. And while Carrie is thankful to be safely away from houston with her sweet baby Elle, her heart hurts for someone very close and special to them who has lost essentially everything. 

Julie came back from her trip a day early to beat the storm, and her home is currently dry, as well, but tons of people she knows have lost everything. 

Maritere’s home is dry, as well, but she is completely flooded in, and cannot get out at all. 

Ashley, unfortunately, did get water in her home. But as she said, “we have a mess, not a catastrophe,” and she’s staying positive. 

Many of our friends have been completely flooded in, have had to be rescued by boats, and have lost everything. It is absolutely gut wrenching to think about. 

Our hearts go out to each and every one of you and your families and friends who have been affected in any way by this nightmare. We are trying to stay as positive as possible and keeping all of you in our thoughts. 

Help Needed

And now we’re going to do everything in our power to help those in need.

One place we’d like to direct you to is the Greater Houston Community Foundation. As well, other great places you can donate, including the Red Cross, you’ll find listed in this Texas Monthly article, which is very thorough, so we encourage you to check it out.

With the power of community, we can make a big difference if everyone does something.

We don’t care where you give; just give. And let us know how much (either publicly by comment or privately by email), and we will match dollar for dollar.

Truly, any little bit can help in a huge way.

You can also donate various items, which would help tremendously. In particular, baby supplies are in major need at the shelters (specifically, diapers and formula). 

The shelter at The George R. Brown Convention Center needs : 

• Baby formula
• Diapers
• Hand sanitizer
• Non-perishable food
• Sweatsuits
• Socks
• Towels
• Bottles of water
• Comfort kits – soap, shampoo, toothpaste
• Blankets
• Pillows

What’s Next

As to be expected, we are not sure when we will be back to regular programming. We are, first and foremost, concerned with making sure our families, friends, and community are safe and cared for. We’ll be sure to keep you posted along the way.
