Editor’s Note

Happy Monday to you all! Not only is it February already, but we’re only a week or so away from Valentine’s Day, and we’re feeling it around here! Whether you’re a fan of the holiday or not, it’s a great day to remind those special people in your life how much you love them. Plus, we just love the red and pink color palette and heart covered pieces. In fact, oops – it looks like we started early with the Vivetta Heart Dress you saw the other day!

But before we get to that, I wanted to share a bit…

Upcoming NYFW

New York Fashion Week (NYFW) kicks off on Thursday. Several of you have asked if I will be attending this season. And the short answer is no, not this time.

A little backstory on my involvement at NYFW… I first went in February 2014 – well before I started this website / business. It was a remarkable gift from my guy to me through a charitable auction, benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters. You can read more about that amazing experience here. Plus, that article contains probably my favorite photo ever of B and me – a street style photo captured by Craig Arend of the New York Times outside the Ralph Lauren show. But I digress.

That means I’ve now been attending NYFW each season since February 2014, so I guess that makes six NYFW experience for me. However, I am passing on this season. That decision is two-fold.

First, the state of the industry vis-a-vis fashion week is influx. Multiple designers are stepping back from the traditional fashion week schedule. The designers are either pulling out all together or opting for alternative arrangements. For instance, Rebecca Minkoff just hosted her spring runway show this past weekend in LA.

And secondly, I am passing on NYFW for some personal reasons — i.e., prioritizing some family responsibilities, taking care of business responsibilities here, and more. Truth be told, NYFW is an expensive proposition. With airfare, hotel, clothing expenses, and more, we are talking about thousands of dollars of expenses. And frankly at this point, from a business perspective, it just makes more financial and strategic sense to spend my time on other fun upcoming projects.

Finally, did I mention NYC is cold in February? In fact, NYC has experienced record cold temperatures for the last two February NYFW. It’s been brutal I tell ya!

But nevertheless, you can count on our commentary here regarding what’s trending from fashion weeks around the world! We will surely share our the very best of fashion month with you.

In Love with This Love Sweater

Now, on to today’s topic…

I undoubtedly fell in love with this Chinti and Parker LOVE sweater right when I saw it. After all, what’s not to love? Besides the message, the type and the colors are great too! By the way, I also spotted these other great styles here and here, as well as these less expensive styles here and here.

For this look, I paired it with jeans just as comfortable as the sweater: Madewell vintage destroyed boyfriend jeans. On this particular day, there was actually a chilling in the air in Houston. So, I topped the look with my all time favorite Carven coatseen here in 2015. Unfortunately, it’s no longer available, but I found beautiful pink coats in similar styles here and here.

In terms of jewelry and accessories, there was no question when it came to my earrings. These All Things Mochi earrings go perfectly with the sweater, and while they are currently sold out, they should come back in stock soon. In the meantime I found other fun, colorful earrings I adore here, here, and here. My cuff is Valentino that I got a while back, but here are a few other cuffs I love here and here.

  4. It’s really sad how much fashion week has changed… I remember going as a wardrobe stylist and there were ZERO influencers/bloggers there. Totally different dynamic now. I think it’s just losing its lust because even though I have a blog, I’ve been totally turned off from going again.

    1. Carrie says:

Yeah, I hear ya… I still see value in it – in certain circumstances. Just for me personally this season, other priorities take, well, priority.
