Meet the Team : Julie

Hi y’all! Carrie here… I’m super happy to formally introduce you to Julie Weinstein. Julie joined the Wear + Where + Well team in the fall of 2016. She worked behind the scenes – with no proper recognition around here! But now she has taken on additional responsibilities around here. So, you’ll start seeing her more front and center, writing her own columns and such. Julie is a delightful person and a talented and accomplished writer.

So without further ado, meet Julie…

Tell everyone a little bit about what you do here at Wear + Where + Well.

Aside from writing various articles, I review and edit all content that goes up on the site, help keep the editorial calendar organized, communicate with contributors, and pitch ideas for future articles. I’m thrilled to be a part of the team!

Carrie’s note: Julie has become my right hand person! So grateful to have her on board.

Aside from working with Wear + Where + Well, you do a lot of other writing… You work with various clients on their blogs, have your own blog, published a book, and are working on your next book.

First, tell us how you do it all! And second, tell us about these books!

Honestly, I love everything I do, so it doesn’t feel like work to me! Kind of a cheesy answer, I know, but it’s the truth. I try my best to stay as organized as possible at all times, so I always know what’s coming up, what deadlines I have, and so on. I also make sure to schedule in ‘me time.’ Meditation is a very important part of my day (I don’t do it daily, but I do it as much as possible!), and going to the gym clears my head. Aside from that, I try not to get too overwhelmed. If I do find myself getting burnt out, I take a break, a deep breath, have a glass of wine (ha!), and get back to it once my head is cleared.

In terms of my books, my first book came out in November of 2015. It’s titled Oops! and it’s an insider’s guide to dating, sex, and relationships in your 20s. It’s full of stories (and observations) from my time spent living in NYC. It’s a fun read! Along those same lines, I write for the JDate blog, and if you’re interested in reading about dating and relationships, you might like those articles – you can find them here. The current book I’m working on is a novel – a love story gone bad 😉 There is no set publish date yet, but I’ll definitely keep you posted!

Favorite place you’ve ever traveled and why?

I’d have to say Napa! To this day, I still think about that vacation all the time. I absolutely love wine, and it was really the perfect trip. Aside from the incredible wine, the restaurants were delicious and it’s absolutely gorgeous there.

Favorite color?

In general, purple. It’s been my favorite since I was a little girl. To wear – black or grey!

Favorite quote?

Like Carrie, I LOVE quotes. In fact, I post them frequently. I’m always stumbling upon incredible quotes, so my favorites change from time to time. However, currently the following three are really resonating with me.

“Happiness, not in another place, but this place…not for another hour, but this hour.” – Walt Whitman

“At times you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.” – Alan Alda

“Now matters more than any other time in your life.” – Hal Elrod

What’s in your purse right now?

You’ll find my phone, wallet (which is actually fairly clean at the moment (i.e. sans a million receipts) – usually it’s a disaster), keys, notepad, and my little bag of tricks (hand sanitizer, advil, headphones, Altoids, Kleenex, nail file, Kiehl’s lip balm, eos lip balm, Ahava mineral hand cream, pen, Listerine strips). Not that exciting!

All time holy grail beauty product?

I guess it’s more of a skincare product, but I swear by Kiehl’s midnight recovery concentrate. I’ve been using it for years, and I absolutely love it. If I had to pick a beauty one, I’d say NARS ‘orgasm’ blush.

Favorite item of clothing (or shoes or bag) and why?

My black illia leather jacket. I’m a big time leather jacket girl. I just love the edge it adds to a look, and this one, in particular, is the perfect length and cut, and now that it’s eve more worn in, it’s the most comfortable.

Fun fact about you that not many people know?

I’m not sure how fun this is, but it’s a little tidbit many don’t know – I’ve moved 11 times in my life, went to 3 different high schools, and 3 different colleges. Yikes!

Favorite hobby (or past time) when not working?

Drinking wine (ha! but seriously) and yoga.

Favorite food?

Pasta pasta and more pasta! I could eat it every night, but I don’t think my waist line would appreciate that.

Favorite TV show or movie?

Movie – The Holiday. TV shows that are currently on – 24 (the original version, but the new one is growing on me!), Homeland (Carrie and I both agree that Quinn needs to shower this season!), Quantico, 2 Broke Girls, This is Us, and The Bachelor (guilty!)

What’s always in your bag, no matter what?

Phone and hand sanitizer – love hand sanitizer!

Ok, rapid fire round…

Beach or mountains?

Beach

Morning or night?

Night

Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall?

I love certain things about each, but if I had to pick one – fall. The foliage!

Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, or Charlotte?

Carrie 100%.

Book or Kindle/iPad?

Book – there’s something about holding a physical book that I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of.
