Elena Ghisellini Trunk Show

As I mentioned here, I had the pleasure of hosting a trunk show and personal appearance for the beautiful, kind, and talented Italian handbag designer Elena Ghisellini at Stanley Korshak in Dallas last week.

Over the last year, I have developed a major crush on Elena and her bag designs! It all started when I saw her rainbow felina bag available for pre-order on Moda Operandi during Milan fashion week in September 2014. You know my color-loving self just had to have it! Thanks to the Moda Operandi team and Elena’s team, I was able to track that bag down early in order to carry it during Milan fashion week this past February to the Versace show, as seen here. You might also recall me carrying this versatile bag a few other times here on Wear + Where + Well. It has become a personal favorite!

Even if you aren’t particularly familiar with Elena’s name, as I mentioned here, you are certainly familiar with her bag designs. The Florence-based designer spent many years at Italian fashion houses like Ferragamo and Givenchy designing the most sought after bags. Styles like the iconic Givenchy ‘Antigona’ and ‘Nightingale’ were designed by Elena. Even now, she is head accessory designer for Emilio Pucci. And a hint – she just might be adding a new design house to her already-impressive resume very soon!

You can definitely see her creative touch weaving its way through consistently through all the bags she has created. But her work on her own line is the most personal and meaningful. As she says, her eponymous line provides her the opportunity to be most true to herself. Her strong yet sensual feminine spirit is so well represented in her bag designs.
